A Biotensis service

Architecture, strategy, and the questions you wish you'd asked sooner.

Senior engineering judgment for the moments that shape the next two years of your technology, without a six-month engagement to get there.

The problem

Most strategy decks describe what should be done. We tell you what to do first, with whom, and at what cost.

Our consulting starts in your code and ends in a roadmap your team will actually execute. We're engineers who've shipped and operated clinical software for three decades, so the recommendations come with the shape of the work attached, not a wishlist that someone else has to translate.

What you get

  • Architecture review

We read your code, your runbooks, and your incident history, then tell you what's load-bearing, what's drifting, and what's about to break.

  • Technology selection

Build vs. buy, framework choice, cloud vendor, AI provider, grounded in what your team can actually operate, not what's trending.

  • Roadmap & sequencing

A 12–18 month plan that survives contact with reality: what to do first, what to defer, and what to stop doing.

  • AI & data strategy

Where machine learning earns its place in your workflow, and where it's a distraction. Honest about both.

  • Cloud & DevOps assessment

Cost, reliability, and operational posture across AWS, Azure, or hybrid. Practical recommendations, not generic best practices.

  • Compliance & interoperability review

GDPR, healthcare-data regulations, and the integration standards (HL7, FHIR, REST) you'll be answering questions about anyway.

Questions

Do we need to be a healthcare company?
No. Healthcare is where most of our scars are, but the engineering practice, long-lived systems, regulated data, high-reliability operations, translates anywhere reliability matters.
How big is the engagement, typically?
Discovery + assessment usually runs 4–8 weeks of effort, with one or two senior engineers embedded part-time. We scope precisely after the discovery call.
Will you write code during the engagement?
Sometimes, if a small prototype is the fastest way to test a recommendation. The deliverable, though, is the report and the alignment, not a codebase.
Can you sign an NDA before we share details?
Of course. Email us and we'll have one back to you the same day.

How the engagement runs

  1. 01

    Discovery

1–2 weeks. We talk to your team, read what's already written, and form a working hypothesis. Output: a shared problem statement.

  2. 02

    Assessment

2–4 weeks. We dig in, code, infrastructure, processes, and document what we find. Output: a written report with prioritized recommendations.

  3. 03

    Workshops & alignment

Half-day sessions with your engineering and leadership teams to pressure-test the recommendations and decide what gets done.

  4. 04

    Optional handoff

If you want us to keep going as a build partner, we transition cleanly into a Custom Software engagement. If you don't, you keep the report.
